Loan Performance Data

The Mass Solar Loan program tracks information on loan performance through monthly reports received from participating lenders. This dashboard provides visualizations of the data collected to provide information about solar loan performance for lending institutions considering solar loan products, local governments considering solar loan programs, or other stakeholders.

Loans in this dataset were issued from January 2016 through December 31st, 2020.

The Mass Solar Loan program encouraged lenders to become part of the growing Massachusetts residential solar market. Participating lenders offered fixed-rate, between $3,000 and $60,000 with an average term of 10-years and a maximum market interest rate of Wall Street Journal prime rate + 2.75 percent.

Please note that loan support Incentives were provided to eligible customers for loans within this dataset. These incentives included an interest rate buydown, principal reductions for income qualified residents, and a loan loss reserve that was made available to encourage lenders to lend to lower credit scores. These incentives may have impacted the loans included within the dataset or their performance, for example the availability of the loan loss reserve may have allowed loans to low credit score borrowers that may have been unable to secure financing absent that support.  For more information on incentives, please visit our incentive information page.
